Violet by Design (Violet)

I was going to get out of the modeling business for good.

But now I’m having trouble sticking with my decision. After all, if it wasn’t for modeling, I might still be the invisible wallflower. Hot guys like Paulo wouldn’t be interested in me. And I’d never have seen Brazil or Spain-and now France! On the other hand…

I also wouldn’t have to choose between my best friend from home and my agent’s shrill demands. Or anguish over my body the way only runway models do. Not to mention all this trouble I’m getting into for speaking out in the press about eating disorders.

Maybe the life of an international model isn’t for me. But if I quit for good, I might always wonder…What if?

(Summary from Amazon)

I loved the first book in the series, Violet on the Runway, and this second addition to the series will not let you down. The characters, Violet especially, were just as down-to-earth as they were in the previous book and I could still relate to them, even though they’ve all changed a bit. The flawless prose keeps you intrigued in the story and you’ll probably have a hard time putting it down.

My favorite thing about these books continues to be the raw honesty that Walker uses when describing the events happening behind the curtain of the modeling industry. Many people seem to be under the impression the models live the perfect life but that’s not true at all. Melissa Walker only brings truth to that.

If you haven’t read the first book in the series, I suggest picking it up, along with this sequel. You won’t be disappointed!

I think it’s very cool to show that not even models are perfect and girls shouldn’t compare themselves to models or actresses or anyone honestly.
Nice review. The books sounds amazing and I’ve wanted to read them for awhile now. I hope i get the chance too. 🙂

Great review!! 🙂 Glad you’re enjoying the books.

Definitely listen to Harmony people. This series is great! For sure pick up the first book. And then the second and third as well, lol.

I think it is awesome that Melissa shows the nitty gritty aspect of the modeling industry in her Violet books. A lot of authors are afraid to touch on such aspects, for fear of being ridiculed and being the receiver of a lot of hate. But someone needed to step over the bounds and do it, and I think Melissa mastered the perfection needed to accomplish it.

Honesty is right!

Thanks for posting these reviews. This is one of the best sites I’ve seen. I really want to read Violet on the Runway, and now i know I need to add this book to.

I am going to have to read this series, I have read so many great reviews on it! Hope’s bookshelf had a great review on it, and an awesome interview with the author! Thanks for sharing a great review of what I am sure if a great book!

well put! I love this series because it’s honest, realistic & just keeps me hooked! Nice to have the darker side of modeling shown, too. It’s not always glitz & glamour!

I love this one to bits and pieces. Violet is an inspiration to me and Melissa’s writing never disappoints. Thanks for featuring her latest on your blog!

I think it’s nice to have a book that doesn’t glamorize modelling or acting and refuses to include the “sugariness” of a lot of current chick-lit. I haven’t read the Violet series yet, but I plan on it as soon as I can find the books.

Im not usually into modeling books but Melissa Walker is amazing. I read the first one and she asked me to review the second. Ill be doing that soon I think… another great review 🙂
