Movie Recommendations

Posted on: July 21, 2009

I’ve gotten in the habit of watching a movie a night now. Last night, I watched Finding Neverland which was cute and there’s some movies from the library I still want to watch.  But other than that, I’m not very up-to-date on my movies.

So…what movies do you guys recommend? I like girly movies and some action but with a plot…must be PG13 or under…

I just saw (500) Days of Summer and it was fantastic!!! Also, Up is wonderful and adorable and touching.

me = movie buff. um… -goes to get her list of personal favorites-

anything with johnny depp. jdepp = love.
and helena bonham carter rocks, too.
oh. and tim burton. bwahahahahaha.

Pirates of the Caribbean (all 3) ♥
The Nightmare Before Christmas
August Rush
The Dark Knight
Inkheart
RENT
The Horse Whisperer
Black Beauty
Legally Blonde
August Rush
The Chronicles of Narnia (all)
Iron Man

all R-rated ones (2 XD) were removed. (though sweeney todd is amazing. ^^)

TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY with Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman. It’s old now (1993 or so), but a really well done romantic quasi-supernatural comedy/drama with vivid, quirky characters. Also contains the most no-holds-barred, gut-wrenching crying scene I’ve ever encountered on film — but the payoff is worth it. 🙂

Elizabethtown is super cute, and Audrey Hepburn movies are good too.

Jim Henson’s Labyrinth if you haven’t seen it already. And MirrorMask. Bride & Prejudice is a fun Bollywood retelling of Pride and Prejudice. A&E’s Horatio Hornblower miniseries is REALLY GOOD and a lot more action-y than girly (except for the large cast of handsome honorable gentlemen for swooning over), but it’s something anyone can relate to and enjoy.
The series should be watched in this order: The Duel, The Fire Ships, The Duchess and the Devil, The Wrong War, Mutiny, Retribution, Loyalty, and Duty.

And my sister and I have recently watched and enjoyed these: http://inkmagic.blogspot.com/2009/06/what-weve-been-watching.html

I second the 500 days of summer and the Mirror Mask recommendations 🙂
