Looking for Books

Posted on: April 13, 2009

Due to recently becoming a history geek, I’m looking for suggestions on books (fiction and non-fiction) that have to do with slavery, southern plantations, Gettysburg, Williamsburg, Jamestown, or anything that took places during late Revolutionary War or the Civil War. Anybody have any suggestions?

Some great fiction ones are Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing by M.T. Anderson, and Copper Sun by Sharon Draper and Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson is sort of unrelated but good! Hope this helps! 🙂

Take a look at Ann Rinaldi, she writes tons of HF.
Also: Annie Between the States is one I’ve been meaning to read.
BN breaks down books by time period if you search: Teen Fiction – Historical Fiction

Chains is awesome. That book really blew me away.

Two Girls of Gettysburg by Lisa Klein is pretty good.
