Guess what I got in the mail yesterday?! Paradise Lost by Kate Brian!
I read it as soon as I opened it and finished it before bed.
Anyway, I was just curious to see what everyone’s views on the Private series were. One of my earlier reviews was for the second book in the series and I got a ton of mixed responses to that. Many people (teens) said they loved the series but then the adults chimed in and said they hated them due to certain subjects approached in the books.
Me? I adore the books. They’re my guilty pleasure reads. My only complaint is that they’ve started getting repetitive. (Reed thinks somebody is stalking, everyone tells her she’s silly, then the book ends with some big disaster that proves she was right.) I’ll be honest – they aren’t the most well-written books and don’t have the best character development but I just get sucked right in every time. There’s such a unique cast of characters and the plots are usually so ridiculous they rock. Josh and Dash are the coolest guys ever and I was definitely disappointed that they weren’t in PL that much. Hopefully, they’ll be in the next book (anyone know when this comes out?) and I can’t wait to see what happens.
So if you do like the Private series, why? Who’s your favorite character? What was your favorite book? If you don’t, why not?

This series is my guilty pleasure too! Actually, when I read the first book I thought it was horrible but I got sucked in when I read Invitation Only. My favorite book is probably that one or Confessions, because I adore Josh and hope he makes more of an appearance in the next book too.
I agree the story is getting repetitive and Reed keeps on making the same mistakes in each arc but I’ll always keep on reading them because they are so addicting. BTW, Suspicion comes out in September. And have you read Privilege featuring Ariana yet? It was so twisted but I couldn’t stop reading. I think Kate Brian has a gift with make her characters so compelling.

I love this series. I’m not caught up; I think I have like 3 more to read, but I love it. It’s completely addicitve and is totally my not-so-guilty pleasure.

I love this serious. I started PL this morning on the ride to school and just finished it about twenty mins ago. It was so good. I have to agree with everyone else about it being repeatitve, but like you all, I am very addicted. I feel that I would be missing something if I didn’t read the series. I have yet to read Last Christmas, and the new series, Privlage, both of which I own. I will actually start Last Christmas in a few moments. It really stinks we have to wait until September to read the next book. I don’t think I can wait that long.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a preference as to which boy Reed has dated? If so, I wouldn’t mind knowing your opinions. BTW, flings count!

Mmmmm im so freeking happy she made another one! I really like this one. I hate upton, he is so playing reed. I wish there would have been more about Josh or even more about reed and sawyers caricter together. That would be interesting. Anyways i cant wait for the next one!! I think im gonna read the privilege seires next.

i loved PL i found it a tad boring though like you have these books with like murder and stalking then this one was kinda ehh i liked it though, Priviledged is in my opinion the best. i found it so twisted and sneaky that it was amazing and i cant wait for beautiful disaster, And suspision

Hi I’m in the UK so we don’t get the next books as quickly as those in the US do, but I read the first ones that were here and then I waited.
What was sad is my friends started reading them and they always want spoilers and help on confusing bits but I hnestly can’t remember who was who.
I tried to read the next one but it’s just not one of those books you can start reading again after a break.
For any fans of this I’d suggest “the it girl” series which is more simplistic and the same idea but so nice to read and definitely one you can’t put down.

OMgeee. I just started reading the private series by Kate Brian like 2 weeks ago. &&ndd i jst finished Paradise Lost. &&Ndd all i have to say is that i LOVEDD it. i cant wait for the next book.! :]

I think this series is amazing. I like the way Last Christmas came out towards the end of the series rather than in the beginning because it is a prequel. It is very interesting! Privilege was also great and I CAN’T wait for the next one to come out! Kate Brian has a great talent and should continue the Private and/or Privilege series for as long as she can!

I absolutely LUHV these books. I got hooked after reading ‘Confessions’. So addictive !! 🙂 I can’t wait for the T.V? series to come out. Oh ehm eff gee ! Hopefully, they’ll use the same characters that are on the cover of each book or it’ll be confusing.

heyyy… i am in a deep passinate ❤ with every1 of these books.!!!!!!!!!! i just got done with Paridise Lost and i cannnnnooooottttt waitt until September when suspision comes out (if u see a crazed grl being a "glass-licker" the day it comes out with a tent nxt 2her dont ask cuz its me)oh ya and if u finish the private an privlige series. seriously read gossip grl and the IT grl….but…… read gossip grl b4 u read the ITgrl….just so that u can get 2 know the main character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love the series! but im dieing to no what happens in revelation!my friend got me started on the series and shes got all the books but i dont have any time to get them!i ruin the book for myself cuz i just get too excited to know what happens next, so i read ahead! it drives my friends crazy but i cant help it! they re just really good books!

I bought the first three books for my trip to the bahamas. I had started the first book at B&N, just looking for something to read. I went back to bye the first three. Lets just say the trip was the next day and the books were not packed =) I went to reserve the forth one on the internet and ended up reading the intros to all of the books curently out so i kinda spoiled the whole thing but am intending on reading the rest of the series. I think the books have that quality to pull the reader in but are not well written. I know i have not read the whole series but this coming from an avid reader. i have been told i devour books. i would like to know if the privledge series and last christmas are worth reading. thanks. And i cant wait for the 10th one, suspicion!!!

Also I think the plot is some how Hilarious!!!! To me it is just so funny i cant even explain it. Reead just has so much bad luck that it leves me laughing

ooh, i love this series. but i think privilege is better. i love how scary ariana is, and i think palmer is the most amazing character brian has ever come out with.
private is good, but i think it’s kind of hard to get into it until you get to the middle or end. and sometimes it just gets old. i’m only on the third book right now, but i have read both of the privilege novels. i will die when the third one comes out this october.

well i agree with you, it does get boring at times but i just wanna know what happens so i just keep reading:) last christmas is a little connfusing to me though, cuz i finished last paradise and i cant see why they would go to the time when reed wasnt there..idk maybe it will all come together at the end..i hope so, otherwise it will be fairly confusing!

I have to say I don’t agree. I think the books are well-written, I don’t think there are any lulls, and I don’t think they are repetitive. In the first arc she didn’t know that Ariana was (kind-of, not really) stalking her. Paradise Lost is only a little like the second arc.

My favorite book is probably Inner Circle or Confessions.
My favorite characters are Josh and Reed(of course) ❤

THESE BOOKS ARE FANTASTIC.!! they are my guilty pleasure as well. i think they are the best books out there, BETTER than the twilight series i think. i cant wait for suspicion..my mom is buying it today for me.!!!! im prob going to finish it tomorrow.

i love these books so much they are like my addiction!!! im pretty sure that they are messing up my head a little bit though because everytime i read one i think about people killing me or my friends and if my boyfriend is cheating on me or something along those lines! but yet i still read them in like a day!!!

i read the first in the series yesterday..i fell in love with it! i was done with the book in 3 and a half hours..what can i say i just got sucked in! i am definitely recommending this book to all my book lover friends! this author has a gift!

Just read LAST CHRISTMAS. I would SOOO reccomend it to people who havent even read the private series. It is soo good.The suspense was kiling me all the way through!

I just finished Paradise Lost 30 minutes ago after waiting a week for my sister to read it. The ending was pretty awesome in my opinion. Endings like that make me want the next book asap.
The next book is Suspicion and it comes out September 8th 2009! (The same day as Catching Fire!) I can’t wait to see the new cover. Hopefully the creepy girl in the green won’t be on it!
